Cortisone Injections For Joints

Corticosteroid injections can help relieve both inflammatory arthritis and osteoarthritis. Cortisone, also known as a corticosteroid or a steroid, is a hormone your body naturally produces via the adrenal glands. When delivered as a medication, corticosteroids reduce the activity of your immune system, which relieves inflammation and pain for people with different kinds of arthritis (as well as a wide range of other inflammatory diseases). No matter what type of arthritis you have, steroid shots are just one part of an overall treatment plan

Cortisone Injections For Trigger Finger and Carpal Tunnel

Trigger finger or trigger thumb is a condition that causes your fingers or thumb get stuck in a bent position. Those with trigger finger or trigger thumb may have stiffness when bending the finger(s) or hear snapping and popping when moving the finger(s). Depending on the severity of the condition, treatment options can range from rest to injections to surgery.

In cases of trigger finger, liquid corticosteroids are injected into the base of the affected finger or thumb. Corticosteroids are thought to work by reducing swelling, allowing the tendon to move freely again.

Steroid injections are placed in the carpal tunnel to relieve the pain associated with carpal tunnel syndrome temporarily. The injections are meant to ease the median nerve pressure, which causes pain from the swollen tendon. No matter what type of arthritis you have, steroid shots are just one part of an overall treatment plan

Cortisone Injections For Plantar Fasciitis and Morton's Neuroma

The cortisone shot is generally applied to the most painful area of your plantar fascia, where the steroid gets to work, providing relief. In most cases, it takes 2-3 days before the relief is noticeable but can work sooner depending on the severity of your plantar fasciitis. It may help ease your pain for about a month, But it will keep the inflammation down for even longer than that. No matter what type of arthritis you have, steroid shots are just one part of an overall treatment plan
